Gauteng		 Oct The unit provided hot refreshments and emergency lighting to fire-fighters at the scene of the Makro Woodmead department store fire. Read more on this incident here.
2/2001 Motorists stranded in snow
Majuba Pass, KwaZulu-Natal		 14 Sep Four motorists had become stranded in snow on the Majuba Pass between KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. They had abandoned their vehicle and taken refuge in the ruins of a hotel. Read more on this incident here. 
1/2001 Search for missing person
Mondeor, Johannesburg		 8 Apr A 17-year-old youth had gone looking for food for his pet snakes in the Klip River Nature Reserve area and had not returned. As the weather worsened into a heavy storm, the Rescue Unit was called out Read more on this incident here.
